Ireland ‘Experiences the Light’
At the Corona Light VIP launch party in Dublin

The launch party for Corona Light in Ireland took place last night (Monday 6th February) at The Church on Mary Street in Dublin.

The Mexican Ambassador to Ireland, His Excellency Carlos Garcia de Alba, officially launched the new light beer, which is only 99 calories per bottle, with Michael & Kathleen Barry of Barry Fitzwilliam, importers of Corona Light and Corona Extra in Ireland.CORONA_LIGHT_2.jpg

Guests were entertained by the San Patricio Mariachi Band in mariachi uniforms and sombreros on arrival and support group Bipolar Empire, a folk-infused rock ‘n’ roll band.  Of course the highlight of the evening was a performance by headline act Jerry Fish and the Mudbug Club, who ensured the crème de la crème of the Dublin’s social scene ‘tripped the light fantastic’!

Special guest DJs kept the party going into the late hours, while the Corona Light girls circulated throughout the night with buckets of the refreshing new low-cal beer, which of course had the mandatory slices of lime now synonymous with Corona.  The overall feel of the evening was most definitely light!

Over 1,000 guests were invited to the launch party and ranged from VIPs to the media, member of the drinks industry in Ireland, regulars of The Church and the general public lucky enough to secure a much coveted ticket.

‘Experiencing the light’ were Jose Pares Gutierrez , Daniel Gomez and Ricardo Mattos from Grupo Modelo Mexico, along with Chris Murphy, partner of Barry & Fitzwilliam, and his wife Heather.  Also there from Barry & Fitzwilliam were Brian McGuinness and Kevin O Mahony.  Former Ms Universe Ireland Ros Purcell, Fade Street star Emily MacKeough and socialite Alannah McGurk also came along on the night as did Claire Sweeney, Shireen McDonagh, Sarah Murphy and Rachel Gillmor-Murphy.  Theresa Byrne from Failte Ireland, Tricia Burke, and Deirdre Hynds were also there on the night along with Declan Byrne President of the Bartenders Association of Ireland and Andrew O’ Gorman, Bartenders Association of Ireland and The Irish Guild of Sommeliers.

Commenting at the launch, Michael Barry of Barry & Fitzwilliam, said, “Irish people are the best in the world for trying new things, and our research has shown that the market is ready for a new and tasty light beer to tickle the taste buds of Ireland’s energetic and discerning drinkers!  Ireland is the top consumer of Corona Extra in Europe per capita and we expect Ireland’s consumers will lead the way with Corona Light as well’.
